Dog & Owner Shot in Drive-By Shooting in Long Beach
A man and his dog were shot late Wednesday night, February 19, 2025, in a drive-by shooting at the intersection of E 14th Street and Rose Avenue in Long Beach.
Police received reports of gunfire in the area just before additional calls came in about a _male_ lying on the sidewalk. Responding officers found the victim conscious and breathing, suffering from a gunshot wound to his lower body. His dog was also injured, having been shot in the paw.
Long Beach Fire Department paramedics arrived and transported the man to a nearby trauma center for treatment. Due to an extended response time from Animal Control, a police officer rushed the wounded dog in a squad car to the Long Beach Animal Emergency Hospital at 4720 E Pacific Coast Highway, where veterinarians are currently treating it.
The suspect described as an African American _male_ between 35 and 40 years old with “puffballs” in his hair, fled the scene in a four-door gray Chevrolet sedan, possibly a Malibu, with red trim around the front and sides.
